Afena Federal Credit Union in Marion, Indiana is seeking a Floating Loan Officer to join our team. Throughout our history, Afena has been dedicated to serving our community; and today we remain committed to helping our members achieve their financial dreams. This role will assist members and potential members with their Credit Union needs and provide expertise with respect to more complex Credit Union services such as IRAs, certificates of deposit, electronic funds transfer, home banking, etc.; This individual will explain services, set up new accounts, assist members with their consumer lending needs; analyze loan requests and make credit decisions based on lending policy, respond to problems, and direct members to the appropriate people. 

Loan Officer Responsibilities:

  • Communicate to an acceptable number of members per month and create new business from those contacts
  • Use trained techniques in member education to increase the number of loan products per member. This includes reaching your monthly sales goal and identifying cross-sell opportunities and cross-sells services to the members.
  • Provide friendly, prompt, professional, and accurate service and support to all members and associates.
  • Educate members about and sell the credit union's insurance products along with other credit union products and services at the assigned levels.
  • Approve and fund loans that are of good asset quality, including creditworthiness, and are properly collateralized.
  • Insure that all operations for assigned products are in compliance with governing regulations.
  • Maintain a professional work environment, conduct business-like appearance, and have acceptable attendance. 
Loan Officer Job Requirements:

  • Two years to five years of similar or related experience.
  • A high school education or GED.
  • A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.
  • Working knowledge of regulations relating to all Credit Union deposit products is preferred but not required. (Reg E, Reg CC, Reg D, Truth-in-Savings Act).
  • Must have good communication skills.
