38 percent of applicants to Bowie State University were admitted for fall 2018


At Bowie State University, 81 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 61 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Bowie enrolled 6,320 students in fall 2018, including 5,308 in undergraduate and 1,012 in graduate programs, data shows. 10.9 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

87 percent of undergraduates are residents of Maryland, and 12 percent are residents of other states.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as Black or African American (83 percent) and Hispanic or Latino (4 percent).

The school admitted 38 percent of the 10,601 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 23 percent enrolled.
